TMFFS: Wasting Eggs

A status, courtesy of my brother, Ray:

Fact: most women spend about $150 - $200 a year on disposable tampons and pads. More than 170,000 tampon applicators were collected along US coastal areas between 1998 and 1999. What wasteful creatures.

Girl 1: You have a better way to handle this, Ray?...Reusable tampons doesn't seem feasible...

My Brother: Not to mention. You waste an egg every time you bleed out.

Girl 2: Gross ^^^

Girl 3: LMAO! When you come up with a better solution, let us know!
Lauren at Hipstercrite actually wrote a post all about vaginas & one of the products mentioned, that
I'd never before heard of was the mooncup. Which I'm not suggesting anyone use because it seems weird...but, for the record, eco-friendly (if semi-disturbing) menstrual cycle products ARE available out there.

Knowledge is power.

  1. The Diva Cup is another alternative that is well known. They are completely hygienic, safe, and comfortable. If you care about the earth, USE IT! ;) People are just scared shitless of the unknown and like to criticize!

  2. Wow, I didn't realize there were so many options out there. I looked up the divacup; it looks kind of...big. Or at least by comparison to the photos on the mooncup's page.

  3. Wow...That's kind of...strange, but very creative, indeed.

  4. haha you're convo with yourself is entertaining... my love, it is not big. They have 2 sizes.. one for people who have given birth and one for those who haven't... and seriously, a childs head can fit through, some squishy material will not do much harm ;)
